Mt. Biking: Cannock Chase Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: 21C Sea Temperature: Weather: Sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Decided to go to Cannock chase today but thought I'd try it without the
car. So headed across to Codsall and on past Brewood then via Gailey and
upto Penkridge on the A449. Then past Woolgarston school and down Pottal
Pool Rd to the roundabout on the A34. Went straight across to Broadhurst
Green Rd and turned onto the first trail off to the left.
Off road skirted the quarry and up over onto the heathland of Brocton. Went
down and across the valley and did some trail exploring on the small hills.
Found a bit of single track off one of the fireroads, which had been well
built and is not sign posted, great stuff!
After looking for new trails and going in circles a bit I landed on the
leisure trail and think I ended up at Seven Springs car park then headed
across to the ford at Stepping Stones doing this opart of the leisure trail
in reverse. Then I left the trail and climbed through Brocton Coppice and
back down over the heathland following the ridge.
Then ended up at Katyn Memorial and crossed onto the bridal way down Dark
Slade and skirted Warren hill and back past the other side of the quarry
where I'd started then back this time onto the A34 just by the
roundabout.
Then just followed the road home thru Penkridge and got a decent display
form the Cosford air show when going thru Brewood, nice.
Estimate 68km or 42 miles, not bad but too much road (28 miles).
